The Automatic Free Product Discount is a feature designed to automatically add a specified free product to the cart based on discount rules.
The free product is added when a qualifying product (the base product) is added to the cart, and the free product will be priced at 100% off.
The feature works under specific conditions, outlined below:
Triggering the Free Product:
The automatic discount is triggered whenever the added product meets the criteria for the discount (based on rules like product type, category, or specific discount configuration), the specified free product will be automatically added to the cart.
Free Product Rules:
100% off pricing: The product specified in the discount rules will be added with a price of $0.00.
Only one free product: If multiple base products are added to the cart, only one free product will be added, regardless of the number of base products.
No Removal of Free Product on Base Product Removal: If the base product (the one that triggered the free product discount) is removed from the cart, the free product will not be removed. Instead, the free product will be converted into a paid product at its regular price. This ensures that the customer is not left with an inconsistent cart, even if the qualifying item is removed.
Limitations & Important Notes
Single Free Product per Cart: Even if multiple base products are added, only one free product will be added.
No Automatic Removal of Free Product: If the base product is removed, the free product is not automatically taken out. Instead, it will revert to its regular price.
Compatibility with Other Discounts: This automatic free product rule may conflict with other discounts. Ensure that any other active discounts do not unintentionally override or interfere with the free product addition
Troubleshooting
Free product not added: Ensure the base product meets the necessary discount criteria (correct product type, category, etc.). If the free product is not being added, double-check the discount configuration to make sure it's set up correctly.
